MAIN AREAS SUPPORTED BY THE FOUNDATION
From the broader field of nature and culture, the Ricola Foundation supports academic projects around the world relating to bee health, plant sciences and loam construction with the aim of contributing to research on life’s necessities and ensuring that they are preserved.
Bee Health
Honey bees have been used by humans for thousands of years: while these important animals play a key role in honey production, their importance primarily lies in ensuring food security. Consequently, the Ricola Foundation supports projects that research and mitigate the risks posed to honey bees’ health.
Plant Sciences
Plants play a key role in human life, and are used in various ways as foodstuffs and agricultural crops. Understanding how plants work is critical to ensuring humanity’s long-term survival. The Ricola Foundation supports projects that aim to research plant life.
Earthen Architecture
Loam has been used as a natural building material since ancient times, but it has become more modern than ever as part of discussions about sustainable building techniques. The Ricola Foundation supports projects that research the properties of loam as a building material and how it can be used in architecture.
