PLANT SCIENCES

There would be no human life without plants, and yet we have little understanding of how plants work.

One under-researched topic is the function of light in programming plants (i.e. activating the genetic programs that enable plants to grow).

The Ricola Foundation is supporting a research project looking at this issue, run by Dr. Célia Baroux (University of Zurich, Switzerland) and Dr. Fredy Barneche (IBENS Paris, France).

The findings of their fundamental research could provide valuable information for understanding plant life and growing agricultural crops.
