Project Norway

The Ricola foundation supports a project on Norwegian honey bee colonies surviving for > 10 years without treatment for the mite Varroa destructor.
This project aims to understand why these Norwegian honeybees are able to survive. For that purpose, experiments are conducted in Norway to pinpoint the exact mechanism for honeybee colony survival.

The anticipated results of the Study will have a considerable potential for apiculture.
